GLTF (GL Transmission Format) is often called the "JPEG of 3D." It is an open standard developed by the Khronos Group for efficient transmission and loading of 3D scenes on the web and in applications. GLTF files store geometry, materials (including physically-based rendering properties), textures, animations, and scene hierarchy in a single portable package.
GLB is the binary variant of GLTF, all assets bundled into a single file, making it ideal for sharing and delivery. Both formats are increasingly used in e-commerce, product visualization, AR, and interactive 3D experiences.

A .gltf file is a JSON descriptor that references external assets, typically a .bin file containing geometry and buffer data, plus any texture images. All referenced files must be uploaded alongside the .gltf for the model to load correctly. If you want a single self-contained file with no dependencies, export as .glb instead, GLB bundles everything into one file and is the simpler choice for sharing.
